Mission: Licking our wounds
Location: Transporter room/Various
Timeline: Backpost, arrival of the helm

The escort ships arrived, they started taking engineers, operations officers, as well as a new permanent crew member a Lt Mei Yoneme, chief helm officer was scheduled to beam over with the additional officers. As he watched as groups were being transported in, he stood waiting for the officer.

When the transporter powered up, the next group was beamed in. Among the officers were two short east Asian women- one in Helm red, the other in Science teal. Both had their hair colored seemingly to coordinate with their department colors. At first, the two seemed to continue a conversation they had been having prior to transport, but then the shorter of the two- the one in the red- trailed off when she noticed Captain Johnson.

"We'll catch up later, alright, Shiki?" She said.

The taller woman nodded in the affirmative and made her way towards the exit of the transporter room, where she was to receive her quarters assignment while the shorter approached the captain, who stood a full foot taller than her.

"Captain." Mei nodded in greeting. "Isn't this nice? No one told me you'd be personally waiting for me."

"What can I say, I like getting to know my crew from the get go."

"So, I take it I'll be getting the grand circle tour of the ship?" Mei asked/ "Get to know just what I'll be flying around?"

"There are currently some areas off limits, due to open hull breaches, missing life support. The battle didn't fair well... though better than those that were lost I have to add."

"Those bastards certainly don't hold anything back." Mei admitted. "I was on the Akagi when she was destroyed. An entire Luna class ship reduced to wreckage in no time at all. Only reason my mates and I survived when everyone else perished was Lieutenant Wilkins jerry rigging the pod to appear as if it had malfunctioned. Well, that, and Ensign Everett messing with the hyposprays that were in the pod's supplies to complete the illusion. We were all out for about three days before the altered medication wore off just in time for us to signal for rescue. All I have to say is thank goodness for the Myogi."

"Well we didn't fare too well in battle either, lost more than I can count."

"I'm sure you have." Mei sighed. "You're looking at one of only three survivors of the Starship Akagi, if that helps put things into perspective...""

"Well, im glad to have you onboard so we can avenge those who have fallen."

"Frankly, I'm just glad to know that Shiki's okay." Mei sighed. "I talked her out of getting reassigned to the Akagi, and that may have saved her life. Not sure what I'd do without my best friend... I'd say worry about vengeance later, for now, we all need to focus on survival."

"I for one do not disagree, however, just fighting for survival, isn't going to make every one happy for too long."

"It won't, but morale should be the least of one's concerns right now." Mei remarked. "So, anyways - tell me a bit more about this ship that I'm going to be flying. Can't say I've ever heard of an Excalibur class, though looking at her, I do see some Sovereign DNA in her..."

"Shes known as the sovereigns big sister, the faster, stronger sister." Alex replied as they walked down the corridor. "With the slipstream drive, only 4 in the fleet so far, many being fast tracked due to the Iconian threat. Our original plan was to train them when they are in the academy. But now we got to train the ones out here, on the fly. Its nothing like standard warp, one wrong move and we could be hurling through space or end up lost somewhere on the other side of the galaxy. I trust you won't make that happen."

"No, sir." Mei shook her head. "The story of Voyager was required learning in the Academy, and with all these new technologies being rolled out to meet the Iconian threat, it never hurts to read the manual, make sure you thoroughly understand how it works. The last thing we need right now is to be trapped in the Delta Quadrant by our own technology."

"That I agree with. The manual is available in your office."

"Splendid." Mei nodded. "Then I'll get started on reading it... Provided, of course there is nothing else required of me?"

"Negative, glad to have you on board. Lt."
